Believe...Achieve...Receive

Deep thought about camp this weekend...

I mentioned in my last post about the drive and the desire that I am seeing from the group this year. The direction that we are heading in right now is a very positive one both in terms of performance and overall satisfaction with what we are doing. It is as though the individuals of the group will accept nothing less then giving it their all and maximizing their time with us. This is happening on and off the field, and I believe it is a very good thing for us. It is something that has been absent for the past couple of years save for a few fleeting glimpses from time to time.

What we are doing and what we are putting together in my opinion defines what drum corps is all about. We are bringing together so many people of so many different ages from so many different places, but we all have a common goal. That is to give the absolute best performance we can possibly give. To work hard together to achieve great things, and to establish a tight bond that allows us to achieve them together. We have put our hands on something that doesn’t come around very often, particularly when you get this caliber of performers together. The tendency is usually for people to work towards individual greatness and to separate themselves from the rest of the group because of their talent level, age, or experience.

The members, this year, are in for a truly rewarding experience. The achievement is going to be there. It is always there, we have been fortunate enough even on “down” years to achieve some amazing things. You combine that achievement with some many other intangibles and you get extraordinary results. This group is becoming close, once we hit the field and start learning together we can make even larger strides towards our goals.

We are not talking about being the best. So many people are so focused on being the best that they lose sight of what is important. The end result doesn’t matter, but what does matter is the journey. You can speak it all you want, but to truly get fulfillment out of what we are doing you have to experience the journey. We are only getting started! We have found our identity and now we are just starting to have fun with it! Five months from now we are going to accomplish amazing things. In that time frame we are going to accomplish a lot of little, but extremely important things along the way.

Everything begins when believe…

Everything happens when we achieve…

Everyone wins when we receive…
