Countdown to Clean...

T-minus 10 weeks...and counting...

I’ve had a look at the schedule for the weekend, and for the first time in a very long time I am actually excited! After this weekend of solid review, and then the next two weekends of reviews and changes, this program is going to be hot hot hot! I am glad that we are taking the time for review, and I am really glad the staff is going back and reevaluating the program as it is written. When we tweak those major effect sections of the show and get it clean our program will be top notch from start to finish. I can’t wait to see how far we progress in the coming weeks! This corps made fantastic progress the 3 weeks leading up to finals last year. We have a tremendous opportunity to do the same thing. One weekend at a time, one set at a time, one phrase at a time, one song, then one show at a time. It’s time to commit ourselves to one another and towards greatness. All we have to do is believe!

Momentum is going to be a very valuable tool towards our eventual success this season. Without momentum we are dead. Getting the chance to start anew with a complete show is opening the door for us to gain momentum. Now it is up to us, how hard we work, how hungry we are and how much we push ourselves to the limits. Only time will tell with this group. There is a core group of very seasoned performers that know how to run with it, and there is a strong group of very talented and hungry first year members that will catch on quickly. Once we can get all of us to the same page…LOOK OUT!

You will probably notice that I don’t call people rookies around here. Rookie is a title that no one should ever want. Yes we will call you rookie if you do something that is completely boneheaded like say forget your instrument or wear white socks instead of black or anything of that nature. The reason why I choose to not call the new folks rookies is very simple. Everyone is here for a reason. Everyone is here because they are the best at what they do. We aren’t rookies…We’re Ringers!

Final thoughts…It’s a long and steady climb to the top. Once you are there it is very easy to fall off and roll all the way to the bottom. Lets climb this thing together and once we get to the top lets all work together to stay there. Rochester is weekend #1 of the evolution of the 2005 Brigadiers. Stay aboard for the whole ride and you’ll perform in a way you never thought possible…that much I promise!
