The mysteries of google page rank...

Can someone please explain this to me? I have been reading a lot about this lately and trying to find information on how to increase my google page rank is insane. My link is out there on a number of different people's blogs in both posts and in people's link list. Still my page rank is zero. I have more links back to my page and within my page then people with page ranks of 4 or 5. I tried submitting my links to some free directories and I am still stuck at zero.

Any comments or suggestions from people with experience on this would be great. I need to find a way to boost the page rank of my blog in a hurry. Please share how you have done it. Also if you would like to exchange links please leave a comment here and I will add a link to your blog here on my list over on the right sidebar.

Thank you, please drive through!

I've attempted to find information on this topic as well. Google searches merely turn up some awful calculations. I think you are on the right track - basically exchanging links. Feel free to add mine; I'll add yours.
(BTW - came to your site through Blog Mad.)

Page rank is a mystery to me. I have a decent rank but it used to be better and when it fell, so did the number Google searches to my page. Why it dropped I couldn't say, why it got as high as it did, I couldn't say.

That being said, I'll be happy to exchange links if that will help.
