2003 - More Brigadier Memories

The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face - Tribute to Vince Bruni
Syracuse Brigadiers 2003

2003 was another interesting year for the Brigadiers. This was a corps made up of people from the United States, Canada, England, Japan, Germany, and New Jersey! Yes New Jersey is a foreign country and for those of you that have been there or live there only you understand why!

The corps itself had not lost a show since 1999 and the streak continued until August of that year. There were many growing pains with such an international corps that year with members coming in and out all season long. In the end we put on a couple of great performances but fell short of a 5th straight Championship, finishing second to the Hawthorne Caballeros.

This piece right here is our tribute that we played the the Empire Statesmen for the late Vince Bruni. Mr Bruni had passed on the day before and out of respect for him and for his corps we played this piece for them. It is entitled, "The First Time Ever I saw Your Face." I hope you enjoy it.

Wow. Yeah, this is as emotional for me as the wedge push in 99. Being on the receiving end of this particular performance tho, I can honestly say it was an unparallelled moment. Im really looking forward to performing this piece with the Brigs this year.
